Cross section through a stem of Eucalyptus

It is a section through a young stem, and it comes from the collection of Georges Roux. The stains used are not known. General aspect of the section on the left and detailed portion on the right.

The section is rectangular and secretory cavities are distributed in a row in the cortical parenchyma. The pith corresponding to the center of the section is composed of large cells with druse crystals. Cells of the pith are difficult to be observed as result of discoloration of the section. The vascular tissue is a continuous ring with well apparent xylem vessels (x) stained dark blue towards.
