Nuclear Membranes

in primary maize root and spinach shoot meristem

Part of a replica of a fractured mays root after 12h of germination. Nuclei are observed in two neighbor cells (N1 and N2). In the right cell the fracture reveals the nuclear membrane surface N1 covered with nuclear pores. For nucleus N2 in left cell the fracture reveals only a small part of the nuclear envelope in its upper part. In both cells we observe different organelles that appear as globular structures. CW : cell wall. G : 12.000 x

Part of a replica of a freeze fractured Spinacia oleracea shoot meristem illustrating nuclear envelope of nuclei in two neighbor cells. On the right higher magnification view of the nuclear envelope of left nucleus
