It is also called \u00ab\u00a0rose cactus\u00a0\u00bb due to its numerous pink flowers that are similar to flowers of rosa.<br \/>This succulent plant forms thorny shrubs that may reach several meters in height. Pereskia is the only genus of cacti with persistent non \u2013 succulent leaves. However, in particular conditions, for example during a drought or during a rest period it will lose its leaves. The leaves are thick and fleshy with prominent veins on the lower face and they have an elliptic \u2013 ovate to obovate \u2013 lanceolate form. The leaves are frequently used for medicinal properties (cholesterol) or as culinary plant (salad or cooked).\u00a0<\/span><em style=\"color: #000080;\">Pereskia\u00a0<\/em><span style=\"color: #000080;\">is also used as ornamental plant.<\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-top: 15px; margin-bottom: 15px; line-height: 25.2px; color: #404040; font-family: arial; font-size: 14px; font-style: normal; font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Microphotographs of a cross section in a portion of leaf fixed with FAA and embedded in paraffin.
